William "Bill" Michael Kelty, 70, of Springfield, died at 10:43 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center.
Bill was born October 17, 1943 in Springfield, the son of James and Marian Walsh Kelty. He married Janice Lowder on June 25, 1977 at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Bill worked maintenance for Springfield District 186 for 29 years, 20 of which were at Ridgely School. He was a historian and enjoyed poetry, his wife, and music. He also enjoyed all kinds of art including oil painting and sketching. Bill was a lover of everything in nature, including flowers and animals. He enjoyed listening to and calling in to WMAY regularly, with "Motown" being his favorite music. Bill and Janice enjoyed regular antiquing trips to Galena for the past 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Kelty.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Kay Kelty of Springfield; one brother, Thomas (wife, Joanie) Kelty of Springfield; one sister, Mary Jean (deceased husband, Charlie) Glisson of Springfield; many nieces and nephews; his beloved golden retriever, Emily and several cats.
Private family ceremonies will be held, with Rev. David W. Gessaman officiating.
