The death of a loved one brings together family and friends to honor and remember a special person in their lives. For generations, Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home has dedicated its service to Springfield and area families during their time of loss. Today the Butler family continues that commitment to serve families in a time of need or as they plan for tomorrow.

This commitment to professionalism has been recognized by two distinguished associations - National Selected Morticians and the International Order of the Golden Rule. No other funeral home in Springfield, Illinois holds membership in these exclusive organizations. Both organizations select members with high standards of service, quality, and professionalism. And both offer us the opportunity for continuing our education to better serve you.

Philosophy of Service

During times of sadness, families gather and look to their relatives and friends for support. They come to support each other, to honor the life lived, and to help themselves adjust to the changes in their own lives.

We respond to families' needs with respect, carefully listening to their wishes and implementing their suggestions to reflect a true and meaningful personalized service. Families are provided with an atmosphere to freely choose a service that is appropriate to their needs. Our wish is to serve families of every faith or creed with dignity and integrity. We believe in a service that honors and remembers the life that was lived and commemorates the person who shared the joy and the tears.

We care about the people of our community. Our commitment to the community extends beyond our profession. We make a special effort to be involved with groups and service organizations which improve the quality of life for all those who call Springfield and the surrounding communities home.

Community Resources

Our family believes that the services of a funeral home does not end with the funeral. That is why we provide personal follow-up to those who have experienced a loss. We also provide materials and resources to anyone in the community to help them through the grief process. We invite calls for informal counseling and support. Sponsoring grief seminars and a holiday help program gives us the opportunity to educate and comfort during the difficult times.

We offer educational programs and seminars on issues that surround death, dying, and the grief process for the public. A resource library of materials is maintained at our facility for public use. We also provide, with an appointment, educational tours to interested community groups.

We are proud of our tradition of service to families in Springfield and surrounding communities. Professional commitment to the standards of our profession, leadership in advancing those standards, and a sustained focus on our role as caregivers have earned us the trust of those we serve. We believe it is an honor and a privilege to continue this tradition.
