Butler Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center offers several Signature Services, designed to help enhance your memorialization experience, by addressing some of the emotional, relational, and spiritual needs of those who cared for, loved, and shared life with your loved one.

24-Hour Grief Counseling

Many families still require guidance, direction, and answers after formal services have concluded. Since these feelings may occur at any time, we offer complimentary year-round, around-the-clock grief counseling via telephone. A staff of master’s level grief counselors are only a toll-free call away. Any member of your family is welcome to use the service, which is private and anonymous.

Candle Light Ceremony

Illuminated candles have an ambiance that creates a calm and peaceful environment for friends and family. A candle-lighting ceremony, either public or private, can represent something significant to your family—whether it is a religious, cultural, or sentimental preference.



On-Line Life Story (With Archive)

Families unable to attend a service in person can visit our website at www.butlerfuneralhomes.com to view and sign an online guest book, leave condolences, and send flowers. This has been a widely-used and meaningful option for those who are separated by distance.

Star Program (A Special Time to Always Remember)

The STAR program is offered to families of children attending the funeral ceremonies of a grandparent, parent, other family member, classmate, or other loved one who has died.

It is a sensitive, caring approach to explaining the funeral process through stories, pictures, discussion, peer support, a craft activity and a STAR message.

Holiday Help Program

Usually a joyous time full of memories, the recently bereaved often feel the holiday season makes their loss more painful. This special program teaches practical ways to “get through the holidays” while coping with mixed emotions.

Tribute Keepsake DVD

Sometimes words are just not enough. Share memories from your life through a Memory Keepsake, a unique creation that blends your family photographs with beautiful full-motion scenery and fitting background music. Simply provide photographs that highlight the moments you want to share from your life, and a personalized DVD will be ready in time for the service. Your family will treasure this DVD and share it with future generations. Your photographs never leave our hands and are returned the same day.



Floral Tributes & Flower Delivery

Flowers are a symbol of love and concern which serve as a reminder of the genuine support offered by those closest to you. We photograph all arrangements as a keepsake for the family and deliver the flowers to your home after the tribute ceremony.

Pearl The Grief Comfort Dog

Pearl is a three-year-old Lab/Shephard/Shar Pei mix who came to Butler after being rescued in Atlanta, GA by the Ginny Millner Rescue Agency and receiving training and certification at Comprehensive Pet Therapy, Inc. She was determined to be a good match for the grief therapy role based on several evaluations done according to specific criteria and guidelines requested by Butler and she was certified as a Grief Therapy Dog in 2012.

Therapy dogs have become increasingly useful in treating physical, emotional and mental health issues and interacting with a dog has been proven to lower blood pressure and releases endorphins in the body that have a calming effect on people. A gesture as simple as laying their heads on a grieving person’s lap or being there for a crying child to pet can improve the process of dealing with the emotions of grief.

We are sensitive to people with animal allergies and phobias, so Pearl does not roam freely. Typically, she will be on hand for a family’s private time of goodbye. It’s a soothing transference to pet an animal, almost as if a portion of a person’s grief is passed to the pet and lessens the individual’s burden for a period of time.

There is no additional cost to a family for Pearl’s presence and she may be requested by a family as the funeral is planned.
